Arrived in Montañita

Sonntag, 10.11.2013

After 20 hours of travel I finally arrived in my home town for the next 5 weeks: Montañita.

A small surf town about a 2 hour drive from Ecuador's most populour city Guayaquil. When I walked up to the Gate 9E at Miami Int'l Airport all I heard was spanish and that has more or less been the case so far. However, there are many backpackers in Montañita, and quite a few Germans and Swiss people (presumably also from the spanish school? I will find out tomorrow).

I've been put up with a very kind guest family with three children (0.5, 8, 12 years respetivly) and live about 30 seconds from the beach. Its relatively simple, however I have my own room and am happy! They are also hosting a Swiss guy, mi hermani,  who showed me around the town today. MAny restaurants, street vendors and cocktail bars. A nice beach, yet not very much sun!

I have to go watch a local soccer match with my host father (Soccer is a big thing here, and most people are Barcelona fans. But Barcelona de Guayaquil. They have a huge fan base, but are not very good.)

Will post some more photos of the beach and town in the next few days

Hasta luego

(but who even reads this lolol?!)

Jetzt gehts los!

TODAY my adventure commences! I just landed in Dallas, TEEEEEXAS and am about to board a plane to Miami, followed by a flight to Guayaquil, Ecuador.

I arrive at about 20:30, and have not heard back from the people who are supposed to pick me up!

It should be fine though, I have a mosquito net from the army surplus store,  a large asortment of bandaids, sunscreen, a flashlight and some vitamins. If no one picks me up I'm sure I can find a cosy sleeping spot somehere right along the airport fence.

If all goes well and I am picked up it should be about a 2.5 hour drive to Montañita.

(I'll attach some very exciting pictures from DAllas airport) Dallas

Bald geht es los

Dies ist der erste Eintrag in meinem neuen Blog. In Zukunft werde ich hier über meine Erlebnisse im Ausland berichten.

TOMORROW I FLY TO ECUADOR!!

Am I packed? No

Any tips on what to pack? So far I only have sunscreen. (I'm thinking about the whole clothing idea.)
